The MASTER METEOROLOGIST

I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.”        (Ezekiel 34:26)

Here is an illustration of the infinite mercy of God – who else could speak to the clouds and make such a bold declaration? We also read the words of Job (5:10) where he confidently declares that he would commit unto God his concerns, because it is He who accomplishes numerous amazing things in our world. He sends rain upon the earth and refreshes the fields, so they yield nourishment for the multitudes all over the world. What could the earth do without the rain showers?

The farmer can break up the hard dry lumps of soil; he may even dare to fertilize it and then sow the seeds upon it, expecting a great harvest.  But what good would all that labor do without the showers of God’s blessing? Now we can recognize the vital importance of God’s abundant blessings in our daily life. He sends His blessings to us – not in sprinkles but in “showers!” The term showers indicate multiple blessings – not merely a singular blessing.

When considering seasons of planting and harvesting, God’s Word reminds us that He makes everything beautiful in His time. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck; a time to build and a time to tear down; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to scatter and a time to gather; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time for war and a time for peace.(Ecclesiastes3:1-11)

So, may we not be parched, dry land, but may we receive divine grace to be focused upward, to see the heavens open and pour out refreshing showers. Then we may be productive and beautiful as we are impacted with eternity in our hearts. Be alert: the “Master Meteorologist” is in control of the showers that come our way!
