WAITING IS NOT EASY – IS IT?

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His Word, I put my hope.” (Psalm 130:5 NIV)

It was a big project. Since the purchase of the home, this was the second serious attempt at growing a hedge along the boundary of the property. And it is an important part of getting established as far as the New Zealanders and the British are concerned. The waiting period was arduous and the results disappointing. So, as the next season approached, there I was again with yet another neat row of trees with hopes and prayers for the successful launch of a hedge this time. During the four years of this entire process, the lesson was duly confirmed: waiting is not easy!

Regardless of how discouraged you may feel in your circumstances, and the anguish and suffering you may experience due to your sin of commission or omission, keep in mind you can cry out to God with the assurance that He will forgive, heal, and restore your relationship with Him, if you seek Him with all your heart and are willing to wait on Him for His merciful hand to act on your behalf. It is God’s desire to show mercy to all who have been humbled by their failures, and rescue them from the slavery of sin, so that they might experience His loving care and kindness. “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from trouble.” (Psalm 107: 2, 6,13, 17-20 ESV) So, there is the assurance of God redeeming those in trouble, who cry out to Him.

But during the waiting process, Yahweh is our God who gives strength to the weary so we can display bold confidence. And we are encouraged to “rest in God alone. . . for my hope comes from Him.” (Psalm 62:5) The rich promises it carries for those who wait on the Lord, is that they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31) So, it is worth the wait!
