God is Working the Night Shift

Exodus 14:1-5, 21, 22

The miracle of rolling back the Red Sea happened “all that night.” On the next day it became apparent that God was on the night shift! In other words, the morning simply revealed what God had done the night before, while everyone else was asleep.

Good News: Even when you feel lost and alone, God is still on the job. He continues to work “all things after the counsel of His own will.” (Ephesians 1:11)

“In Him we have attained an inheritance, bring predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.” Ephesians 1:11 NKJV

Many songs have been written about this period of darkness we experience.

“When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest upon His unchanging grace.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my help and stay.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.”

In the midst of your trial or devastation, you may not be able to see Him today. But the eyes of the Lord are still focused on you.

  • You may be facing struggles as a student.
  • You may be facing financial worries.
  • You may be single and struggling to get on your feet.
  • You may be serving God under dangerous circumstances.
  • Or you may find yourself just lonely and in need of companionship.

3 Things to Remember:

(1) Psalm 37:25
“I have been young, and not am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread.”

(2) Psalm 30:5
“…Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.” This means it is on the way!

(3) Psalm 8:37
“In all these things, (whatever you are facing in your life) we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

So let us be encouraged – God is working the night shift! If your circumstances are somewhat murky right now, keep in mind: the answer is on the way!
