ARE YOU A COMMONER OR ROYALTY?
“To all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
Sometimes life can be challenging. If we search our hearts, we will recognize the times we made choices that betrayed our indifference towards God. The reason for it is the sinful nature of man has formed a chasm of division between God and us. The Bible explains it as “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6)
Jesus came into the world to bring God’s good news to mankind. He came to redeem us from the curse of sin that resulted from the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. This was our inheritance from Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God’s instructions. The advent of Jesus was to show us the way out of darkness. Diverse was the response to the Lord Jesus. Some received His message with apathy, (John 1:10) and others refused to accept Him as Messiah. (John 1:11) Yet there were others who humbly believed in His name with joy. It is to them that He gave this promise. (Jn.1:12) So, when we turn from sin and leave the works of darkness behind and accept Jesus Christ as Lord of our life, we can experience spiritual rebirth. We are adopted into the family of God. Then we are no more commoners but are accepted as royalty – the children of God! With the privilege of being the children of God, we also have the responsibility of living according to God’s expectation of His children.
Trusting Jesus completely and obeying Him is a lifelong process to be developed. It brings with it His gift of peace and calm assurance to enable us to live each moment confidently in His loving embrace. We can commune with Him in prayer and draw strength from His Word through the scriptures to inspire and uplift us in joyful times and challenging times. Jesus declared: “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. “So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14:27 NLT) Keep in mind: You are no more a commoner but royalty!
