HOW READY ARE YOU?

“I . . .the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received. . .” (Ephesians 4:1)

As followers of Christ, we are called to unity in the faith and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. However, it is also an enriching experience to discover the diversity among believers. The abundant gifts and skills endowed by the Lord are fascinating! There are brilliant scientists, exceptional chefs, astute astronauts, intelligent lawyers, dutiful teachers and many more. While you and I may not be called to be an Albert Einstein, Michelin Star Chef Gordon Ramsay, Neil Armstrong, Guiness record holding criminal Lawyer Sir Lionel Luckhoo, or educator Booker T. Washington, yet each one of us has been endowed with grace for a specific calling. (Ephesians 4:7) And we are called to live life “worthy of that calling.” (Ephesians 4:1) As we are a part of the body of Christ, we are reminded that each of us is called to do our part in the big picture. (Ephesians 4:16)

You may have various callings in different areas of your life, family, career, and interests. Each task may vary in importance and intensity. If we ask ourselves what it is that God has placed on our hearts to accomplish for Him in the duration of our life span, some may be major assignments and others minor. Whatever the assignment may be, there is a question that looms large before us: How ready are you to proceed with the task, reliant on the grace of God that is promised you? (Ephesians 4:7)

We may find life busy, and we may not think we have time to sit and meditate in God’s presence. But let us keep in mind that we run the risk of forfeiting our relationship with God; thus, we would lose more than just time. We can miss His peace, power, wisdom, and joy and even the very calling for which we were created. He has not only called you but has also given gifts to equip you for the tasks at hand. So, the question remains to be answered: How ready are you to accomplish your assigned tasks? May we accept the divine calling on our life and live a life worthy of that calling for His honor and glory.
